Adoption Process
Please keep these criteria in mind when applying:
1. Adopters must be 18 years old or older.
2. Adopters must have a history of experience with care of a horse; and if riding, a history of knowledge and experience.
3.Adopters must provide adequate pasture and shelter, secure fencing, and access to fresh water 24/7.
4. Must be willing to provide regular veterinarian, farrier, and dental care
6. A well-cared for horse can live beyond 28 years, SAFE is looking for life-time home.
The Perfect Reasons To Adopt From SAFE
Our goal is to make a perfect match every time.
If it is not we will make it right by offering you a horse that fits!
It is costly if a match is not perfect because we stand by our matches!
Steps to Adopt
1. Fill out the application - read and sign our Adoption Agreement.
​2. Send requested photos for review to srfadoption@gmail.com​
3. Provide a $25. Application Fee
4. Expect a 20 minute call from SAFE (To review your perfect horse request,
your knowledge, and to make an appointment for you to meet the horses!)

(We recommend that you bring your trailer to choose your horse.
If you don't have a trailer we can recommend shippers.)
Become a FOSTER Friend
Being a "Foster Friend" means you are taking care of a horse until they find a home
Different Ways to Foster a Horse:

Full foster means you will cover all costs including veterinary care, however, if any surgeries or extensive care needed SRF does not expect you to cover this expense, if you choose to do so it is appreciated. SRF is unable to cover these expenses either. If extensive veterinary care is needed it must be discussed with SRF's consulting veterinarian. There are times where humane euthanasia is considered.

Fosters take on all expenses, but it can vary once discussed with our Placement Director.

Many of our "Foster Friends" are guided by their accountant so they receive a tax-deduction for the monies spent. Consult with your accountant for details on deductions as a foster home!
